Pressure Regulating Valve is a type of control valve which regulates the pressure of steam/fluid at the outlet when the pressure at inlet is within the limit.

Pressure regulation uses a servo to control flow area and hence pressure drop through the valve to control outlet pressure. The relation between inlet pressure, outle pressure and flow rate is governed by the orifice flow equation
